Course Description
The journey to landing your dream role, working with your favourite director or delivering your first award winning performance – every time it begins with an audition.
Being at your very best under highly unpredictable circumstances is one of the most important skills you need to acquire as an aspiring actor. No matter how talented you are, if that perfect opportunity comes along and you’re not prepared, your talent won’t even make it past the first round. And the only way to guarantee that you’ll be at your best no matter what is practice, practice, practice!
Put your skills to the test, learn what international casting directors, agents and producers are looking for in 2024 and discover how to best prepare yourself for the various challenges that await you in the audition room – or when submitting a selftape.
In these three evenings you will practise the most common types of auditions in the current (international) world of acting, receive feedback on your work and gain confidence in your skills!
You will also learn the basic dos & don’ts for each type of audition, learn how to optimise your own selftapes and watch yourself back on video for maximum learning effect during the class.
Week 1: Cold reading, co-star and guest-star auditions
Week 2: Monologues
Week 3: Dialogue scenes
(all practice auditions will be filmed. If you would like to receive the materials filmed in class in the end, please select the option when purchasing the class)
About Marei Annis
Marei Annis started the acting department at ELFS Japan in 2019. She runs her own independent production company AVA – All Visions Align and has produced, written, directed and starred in a variety of film and stage productions in Japan, Germany, London and Los Angeles.
Her teaching technique is a fusion of influences compiled from experiences across all creative aspects of filmmaking and acting as well as life- and business coaching.
Amongst many others Marei herself trained with Monika Gossmann (Iron Sky, Mank), Lisa Pescia (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld) and Bernard Hiller (coach of Cameron Diaz, Michelle Pfeiffer,…). She has also produced three feature films, wrote and directed several plays, a webseries and various short films and she trained in “Contextual Coaching” (NLP and RET based) for a deeper understanding of how to reach and empower students on an individual level.
Marei’s approach to teaching always begins with the student as an individual and focuses most on finding and refining the talent, experience and passion that’s already there – then tailoring a unique path and method based on their needs, strengths and goals.
