Strasberg Method: Advanced Training (ongoing)
7th 3月 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
¥10,000 – ¥100,000日本語の案内は現在ございません
Join Jim O’Connor’s new ongoing Strasberg training group to practise using the Method in scripted scene-work and monologues as well as any upcoming auditions and professional engagements. Each class will begin with a group exercise immediately followed by scripted material. This will deepen your understanding of your talent, improve your professional acting skills and highlight your strengths as well as areas for improvement.
Discover over time what it truly takes to become a Method actor.
Unlock your private world of emotions to create inspiration on cue. Transform fear and self doubt into decisive action and finally live truthfully under imaginary circumstances.
For those actors aiming at a professional career – especially in an international market – longterm, ongoing training is crucial. In this ongoing group class you will receive consistent training, challenges and feedback based on your own level and progress.
You can join the classes at the beginning of each new month by booking a 1-month, 3-month or 6-month package (with discounts for longer upfront commitment).
To truly dive in deep and see real, lasting progress staying committed for at least a 6-month period to training with the same tutor is highly encouraged (even if you choose to book month by month).
When joining the class for the first time, please bring a monologue, a scene or any materials that you would like to work on with you.
If you have your materials ready in advance, please send them directly to the tutor:

About Jim O’Connor
Jim O’Connor received his bachelor of fine arts degree in acting from the University of Rhode Island, USA, where he studied the Meisner method. After working in regional theater under the guidance of Tony award winning Director, Adrian Hall, Jim relocated to New York City where his career shifted to daytime soap operas, episodic television and Emmy award winning national network commercials. Thereafter, Jim explored the growing trend as a television host with his own shows on the USA network amongst others. Throughout his pursuits, Jim steadily trained with Gary Swanson, a first generation acting pupil of Lee Strasberg and lifetime member of The Actor’s Studio. Jim enjoys teaching the knowledge he has been fortunate enough to obtain and now looks forward to sharing the same with Tokyo performing artists.
FAQ:
If I miss a class, can I make it up at a later date?
If you know at the time of booking your package that you will be absent during one specific date, the missed class can be added at the end of the package instead. In case of missing a class because of a serious emergency, you can also make up the missed class at the end of your package. However, if you miss a class for personal reasons, the class can unfortunately not be made up (such as feeling unwell without any heavy symptoms, working overtime or taking a mental health day) If the tutor has to cancel a class due to an emergency or otherwise unforeseen circumstances, the missed class will automatically be added to the end of your package, or credited towards any class date of your choice within the following month.
Do I need to take the “Introduction to Strasberg” class before joining the ongoing one?
If you have previous acting experience you are welcome to join the ongoing training right away. Please contact the tutor directly to confirm before booking.
If you have never taken an acting class before, the introductory classes are a better starting point.
Can I audit the class before joining?
In order for our classes to remain a safe working space for our students we don’t allow audits. If you want to get a first impression before committing to a class, please join our monthly drop-in sessions!
I am joining both, Jim’s and Lucas’ ongoing classes – can I work on the same materials in both classes or do they need to be different ones?
In order for a consistent workflow in each class we recommend that you work on different materials in each class. That way you can focus on applying one approach at a time and discover step by step which elements of each method work best for yourself.
I have an audition coming up. Can I prepare for it in the ongoing class, even if I was working on a different scene or monologue before?
Of course! We will prioritise anything you need to work on towards a tight deadline!
Do I always have to bring my own scenes or monologues?
Generally, no. We ask you to bring something in the beginning so we can get to work right away, but once you’ve been working with us for a while the tutor will provide you with materials best suited to your progress. We are always open to your wishes and suggestions, so if you have something particular in mind that you’d like to work on just let the tutor know.
