Why do we still go to the cinema, when we can watch everything on our own screen at home now?
Well, sometimes we need a break from the distractions, the reminders of everything outside of the magical realms that a story can take us.
So just as we benefit from the quiet, the dark, the atmosphere and the people around us when we go out to immerse ourselves in the world of a movie, the same things can help to evoke our own creativity too.
At the ELFS Writer’s Meetup, for 3 hours every week the ELFS studio is transformed into a room of possibilities.
We provide the space and the atmosphere – you bring the stories.
From 3:00-5:00pm we sit together and write quietly.
You can work on an ongoing project or make use of weekly prompts and exercises we provide.
There is a theme each week and some inspiration around if you feel stuck – and there are earplugs provided if you just want to dive right into your own story.
From 5:00-6:00pm there is the option to share your work and your experience, read out loud what you wrote or have others read it to you.
Throughout the entire session there is tea, coffee and water available as well as a few snacks (the type you can quietly munch on without interrupting your focus or disturb the peace of other writers).
Who is this for?
Anyone, who wants to write.
There are no limits, regulations or entry criteria other than the commitment to sit and focus on your own work for the time you are in the room.
While this is a screenwriting focused event, there are really no limits to what you can work on. Feel free to join with any type of writing project in mind or already in progress!
